Why NanoJapan?
NanoJapan is my ideal summer program to participate in. It brings together two of my most avid interests: nanotechnology and Japanese culture. It gives young undergraduates, just emerging into the world of science and engineering, a research experience in an international setting. This experience is important to future scientists and engineers, as this profession becomes increasingly collaborative. The NanoJapan program is unique in that it provides freshmen and sophomores a hands-on experience in professional research, where most other programs only accept juniors and seniors. It also provides the opportunity to experience a culture that has intrigued me for years. Japan will be my first step in what I hope to be many more international experiences. I look most forward to meeting and getting to know my lab mates as well as enjoying the local cuisine.
